About

MileageSum computes IRS standard mileage reimbursement exactly — for any distance, any purpose category, and any rate period, including mid-year rate changes that most tables and calculators silently get wrong.

Every figure is computed from the official IRS rate in integer arithmetic (tenths of a cent per mile), rounded exactly once at the cent, and labeled with the IRS notice it comes from. When the IRS announces a new rate — the annual December notice or a rare mid-year adjustment — the dataset is updated and every page on the site recomputes. Rates last verified against IRS sources on 2026-07-17.

MileageSum is an independent reference. It is not affiliated with the Internal Revenue Service, and nothing here is tax, legal, or accounting advice: employer reimbursement policies can differ from the IRS standard, and how reimbursements are treated on a tax return depends on individual circumstances. For those questions, consult the IRS's own publications or a qualified professional.
